This generator can be used on the 290 series lanterns, but you will have to use your original generator nut instead of the new one that comes with this generator. The 290 generators have been discontinued.

In practical use, people have found that it will work and work well, but the heat shield will need fabrication or if using this on a 222, you should install a different heat shield set up out of a 226/229 lantern. The heat shields are not a part that can be ordered as they have been discontinued. This generator is wider/fatter than the original 222 generator and essentially conflicts with the heat shield. The part number for the heat shield is 5414-4605.
