If your old Coleman (or any other make) used the LP-Gas canisters that look like the photo below, this adapter will allow you to use a newer style canister made today to power it up. Many newer canisters are quite small and can be hidden inside the original housing of the appliance. Hose length is 18". These are made here in the USA and work very well.

Instructions: This is a guide to help you through the process of safely preparing and using your stove or lantern with its adapter. Let’s take it step by step to ensure everything goes smoothly.
Before You Begin
Before lighting your stove or lantern, there are a couple of quick checks to make everything safe and functional:
1. **Check the Needle or Filter Tip**: Take a moment to inspect the needle or filter tip to see if it’s clogged. If it is, carefully remove the tip and let it soak in denatured alcohol overnight. Afterward, use compressed air to blow it dry. Ensure the needle is free of any oil or residue. If needed, wipe it down with a bit of alcohol and let it dry completely.
2. **Attach the Adapter**: When you’re ready, insert the adapter onto the needle. Use a gentle twisting motion—back and forth—with medium pressure until the adapter sits snugly against the brass connector on your stove or lantern.
Testing for Leaks
Safety first! Let’s test the setup to make sure there are no leaks before lighting:
1. Start by closing the valves on both the appliance (stove or lantern) and the adapter.
2. Connect the adapter to your fuel canister and then to the appliance.
3. Open only the valve on the adapter.
4. Listen carefully for any hissing sounds that might indicate a leak.
5. If you hear or suspect a leak, don’t light the appliance. Instead, find where the leak is coming from and fix it.
6. After repairing any leak, repeat steps 1–5 to confirm it’s sealed.
7. Once you’re confident there are no leaks, you’re ready to light! Open the adapter valve first, then slowly open the appliance valve and light it. If you ever feel unsure about a possible leak, hold off on lighting it until you’re certain it’s safe.
About the O-Rings
Your adapter comes with three O-rings—one is a spare. The appliance works fine with either two or three O-rings, so if one gets lost, you’re still good to go. These O-rings are replaceable if they wear out over time; the size you’ll need is -103 Buna-N-70A. To remove them, an inflating needle (like one used for basketballs) works best.
Recommended Fuel Canisters
For best results, use gas canisters from brands like MSR, Optimus, Primus, or Coleman—just to name a few.
After Use
When you’re done, disconnect the adapter from the gas canister. This helps prevent any gas from leaking out over time. It’s perfectly fine to leave the adapter attached to the appliance.
Important Safety Note
Please don’t try to connect this adapter to a 1-pound green propane bottle—the pressure is too high, and this adapter is designed for low-pressure fuel canisters only. Also, don't use it to refill old canisters.
Maintenance Tips
- **Cleaning the O-Rings**: If the O-rings get oily or greasy, you can remove them and clean them with alcohol. To reinstall, use a ¼-inch wooden dowel to gently guide them back into place.
- **Fixing Rolled O-Rings**: If the O-rings roll out of position, you can press them back into the adapter body with a wooden dowel. If they keep rolling out, attach the adapter to the stove’s needle (without turning it on) and leave it for a few hours—the O-rings should settle into place.
